Robotics Club Extravaganza & 2011 Reading Challenge Winners
Last Friday on May 27th, the Robotics Club organized its first friendly competition that will be known as the "Robotics Club Extravaganza" in the years to come. They worked for weeks, building robots that could solve an identified problem. Mr. Verheyden and Mrs. Meagher are behind that highly creative activity. Who said that science wasn't cool? This was very interesting and should bring more kids to it next year.
We also announced and gave our Grand Prizes to this year's Reading Challenge Winners. Thanks again to our sponsors: ETFS, the Sherbrooke Rotary Club, the Brome Lake Bookstore and Spoutnik for their support. The Reading Challenge is not part of the regular school budget so we wouldn't have money to buy all those prices. This year, we had 128 students registered and, as you can see on the picture, we do give a lot of prizes (and please remember that we gave 24 bags of goodies in our weekly draws). We have something for everyone, for all levels. This year, 3,000 more books were borrowed from the library so, reading is something Galt students enjoy.Back row: Kate Richardson (3rd), André Lallier (2nd), Andrew Rutherford (1st)
